The Faith Inclusion Network for Disabilities (FIND) held its first
Faith Inclusion Seminar: FINDING THE SPIRIT! on June 5, 2008.
It was a tremendous success!
If you would like to join FIND, we have formed committees to
take us to the next level, with a goal of being a resource
for individual with disabilities and/or mental illness,
their families and caregivers, and for faith communities.
Ultimately we want to offer materials, speakers, and training
for individuals, families, service providers, faith leaders, and
lay leaders of congregations. The committees currently include:
1. Education Awareness
2. Exploring Programs/Inclusive Faith Communities
3. Event Planning
FIND is interested in a full spectrum of inclusive faith opportunities becoming available in Chester County. Rejoicing Spirits, a national ministry founded in Chester County, demonstrates a very successful worship and fellowship model. Their inclusive worship services are adapted to engage people with intellectual/developmental disabilities, their families, friends, and other supportive community members. Rejoicing Spirit’s success is proof that both individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and those without greatly benefit by worshipping together in an atmosphere that encourages participation by everyone. At Rejoicing Spirits all worshippers are encouraged to share their gifts and talents which help everyone to grow in their faith.
